Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, I migrated to the beautiful west coast in 2000. Fresh faced and on my own, I embarked on an amazing journey of self-discovery and exploration. I didn’t always know I wanted to be a designer and dabbled in many areas of life, including accounting, education and acting, but struggled to find a right fit.
After finding my feet here in the lower mainland, and at the suggestion of my then-future-husband, I began an intensive education in the Art Institute of Vancouver’s Interior Design program where I studied under some of Vancouver’s best interior & furniture designers, artists and instructors. In the spring of 2007, I graduated having achieved the prestigious Dean’s List award and quickly began apprenticing under one of Vancouver’s most affluent independent designers, allowing time to explore the multi-faceted profession I had chosen. I was then carried to the door of a budding, award-winning design-build contracting firm where I trained in the finer points of construction practices and project management to accompany my extensive formal education and inherent ardour for design.
I have recently achieved one of my primary career goals, and successfully wrote the National Council for Interior Design Qualifications (NCIDQ), acquiring the elite Registered Interior Designer professional designation with the Interior Design Institute of British Columbia (IDIBC). Not one to slack, my future goals include completing the Certified Kitchen & Bath Designer (CKD/CBD) designations from the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) and procuring a teaching position with one of the preferred design schools in the lower mainland. I truly feel that education in career and life never stop and that one should always strive for betterment in all areas to achieve balance and success. With each new client and each new home or space, I find myself with further opportunities and challenges to realize my personal and professional goals.
